Beginning History

Florida Blower Door is a spin off of Optimal Energy Inc:

 Optimal Energy Inc. was incorporated in 1988 by its founder Bud Fahey in the state of New Jersey.  The company quickly developed a commercially viable energy auditing process that utilized scientific instruments to diagnose energy loss in buildings and homes.  The result of this innovative auditing process was that only the most energy efficient measures, which returned the highest energy savings, are recommended to our clients.  Since it's inception, Optimal Energy Inc. has integrated contracting services to install and implement the energy efficient measures identified in the energy auditing process..  

Florida Blower Door:

Bud and his family relocated to SWFL. In 2017 the Florida Building Code required Blower Door Testing for all new construction. The 30 years experience in utilizing the blower door and it’s diagnostics is a great asset to this new implementation. FBD is dedicated to providing services efficiently, backed by 30 years of experience, and sharing that knowledge with each client.

Experience

  Bud has been a certified Residential and Commercial Energy Auditor since the mid 1980's.  While working on energy efficient projects for major utilities, like PSE&G, South Jersey Gas, Atlantic City Electric, and PECO, he saw the opportunity for an innovative energy service company that would utilize emerging technologies to help diagnose energy loss in buildings.  One of these emerging technologies, Blower Doors, Bud purchased in 1987.  Since then, in it's 30 year history, Optimal Energy Inc. has performed over 40,000 blower door test and has completed over 15,000 energy retrofits. Under Bud's guidance, Optimal Energy Inc., has received many awards from organizations such as the EPA, NJ Clean Energy Program, and The Home Performance Programs. Since 2017 Bud has focused on Florida Blower Door bringing his vast knowledge and experience to SWFL.
